Medical Requirements for Boarding Dogs:
Vaccinations
Bordetella - protects from bacteria that leads to kennel cough and possible secondary infections
Must be given within 6 months prior to training
Distemper/Parvo (Da2pp/DAP) - typically a combo vaccine
Distemper - protects from a disease that attacks a dog or puppy’s respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems
Parvo - protects from a highly contagious virus that attacks a puppy or dog’s gastrointestinal system
Rabies (can be passed to people)
Encouraged but not required:
K9 Influenza - protects from a virus very similar to kennel cough
Leptospirosis (can be passed to people) - protects from a bacteria found in water and soil of warmer climates or in areas with a high percentage of rainfall every year
Negative Fecal Test
Tested within 30 days prior to training
Intestinal parasites can be passed from dog to dog in a few different ways
We want to make sure every dog is protected and healthy
Heartworm and Flea/tick Prevention
Can be monthly prevention, annual/biannual prevention, flea/tick collar.
Not administering these preventions puts your dog and other dogs at risk for diseases or complications (ie Lyme’s disease, etc)
